Llanychaer Speed Limit

by admin on 7 February, 2008

Kirsty William AMBob Kilmister has written to the County Council again asking them to impose a 30 mph limit through this village.  The Council has so far refused on the basis that the limit would be for less than half a mile over which there is reasonably continuous development.  Bob has pointed out to the Council that if they start the limit at Capel Glandwr and end it just after the houses on Bridge Street then it is exactly half a mile.  Inevitably in a small Pembrokeshire village there are some undeveloped spaces.  There is no pavement, the road is extremely narrow and pedestrians need access to the Chapel which is also the polling station, the Post Office and the Public House plus there is also a road junction.  The need for a speed limit is obvious.  Bob has also asked Kirsty Williams AM the Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson to take this matter up with the minister responsible at the Welsh Assembly.  Lets hope the County Council answer the latest letter faster than the last one which took 23 working days before a letter was drafted and 27 to be received by me.  My letter was posted on 21/12/07 and the reply was received on 05/02/08.  Certainly no speed limit required here!  Give me your views please.
