Pembrokeshire County Council – Obstructive?

by admin on 7 February, 2008

Bob Kilmister has written to Pembrokeshire County Council Monitoring Officer complaining at what he believes is obstructive behaviour and political bias against him by the Council.  He has threatened to involve the Local Government Ombudsman unless he receives a satisfactory response.

The complaint has come about because the Council does not answer his letters unless prompted and never achieve their 15 working day (3 weeks) target to respond.  When they finally do respond all replies are extremely negative and obstructive.  In two cases where Bob has represented a third party they have forwarded the complaints to the sitting Independent Group Councillor John Griffiths without the complainants permission.  This breaks the Data Protection Act and is obviously motivated by a preference for the Independent Group as the only Liberal Democrat now on PCC has confirmed that he does not receive such preferential treatment.

What is an Independent?  According to my dictionary it is “not depending on authority or control”.  In Pembrokeshire members of the Independent Group are told how to vote by their group leader. It is a pity that trading standards legislation does not cover political  groups as their title is a clear misrepresentation.  Bob Kilmister if elected in May “will not be told how to vote by anyone.”  Try getting that assurance from the Independent Group candidates.  There are some real Independents and on my links tab you will see a reference to Old Grumpy which is a brilliant website.  It is run by Mike Stoddart, a former journalist and sitting County Councillor, who writes about the Council  or as he refers to it on some occasions,    “the Kremlin on the Cleddau”.    Please give me your comments on this or any other article as I would welcome your views.
